James Jacobsen
James Jacobsen comes to iMentor with a strong background in development, outreach and technology. He previously worked as both a Social Media Consultant and Outreach Manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC and started his career as a Manager at NYCharities.org. He earned his B.S. in Black Studies from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and is currently finishing up a Masters in Fundraising and Grantmaking at New York University. In October of 2010, seeing a huge disconnect between technology and nonprofits, he beta launched The Grassroot Movement, a site dedicated to bridging the technological gaps in the sector. In the past he has served on the National Council of La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc., a national community service oriented organization and on the board of New York University’s Fundraising Student Association. When not working, James is a long time slam poet and often performs at fundraising events to help promote awareness on various different issues. He has wanted to work for iMentor for 3 years and is extremely excited to have this opportunity!
