About the iMentor Partnership

iMentor is in its fourth year of partnership with International High School at Lafayette. Principal Jon Harriman heard about iMentor’s program when he was a former teacher at Brooklyn International High School, a longtime iMentor partner. Given iMentor’s extensive background with international students and IHL’s intensively structured and supportive learning environment, the partnership was a perfect fit.

iMentor works with juniors at the school through their internship class. During the fall, the juniors research and apply for internships that they will attend once a week. The school has integrated iMentor’s comprehensive career and college curriculum to help students to narrow their career interests, to aid them in the application process, and assist in their adjustment to the workplace.

As the entire school is made up of international students, kids are learning English as a second, third, or even fourth language. The iMentor program provides these students with an opportunity to practice their own written English and to receive emails from native English speakers.
