Minority Internships
Center for Third World Organizing's Movement Access Apprenticeship Program (MAAP)
- The MAAP internship program is centered around an intense 8 week training and field placement with a grassroots community or labor organization, working on issues that impact poor people of color.
- Application Deadline: April 15
Harvard School of Public Health
- A paid, intensive 9-week laboratory-based biological research program for minority undergraduates during the summer following their sophomore or junior years (June 19 - August, 18, 2006). Up to 16 internships are awarded each year by a competitive process.

The INROADS internship
- INROADS seeks high performing African American, Hispanic, and Native American Indian college students for internship opportunities with some of the nation's largest companies.
National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ)
- NABJ provides internships to African-American full-time college journalism students. Students are placed in 10-week paid internships with small, medium and large newspapers, television and radio stations and online news services across the country. NABJ’s summer internships give students hands-on reporting, editing, shooting and design experience in professional settings.

Native American Congressional Internships
- This ten-week internship in Washington, D.C. places Native American and Alaska Native college students in federal government offices, where they are able to observe government decision-making processes first-hand.

Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) Internship Program
- The OCA Internship Program is a great opportunity to learn firsthand about issues and policies that affect Asian Pacific Americans (APAs). Interns will visit Congressional offices, meet with Representatives, APA staffers, and members of the Congressional APA Caucus. They will also meet with members of the Department of Justice and discuss issues concerning civil rights and voting rights.

Internships in Publishing, Journalism, Media, and Art
ArtTable Summer Internship for Diversity in the Visual Arts Professions
- This internhip, aimed at young women from diverse backgrounds, is designed to increase the effectiveness and visibility of women in the visual arts and to promote diversity by offering a one-on-one mentorship for an 8-week period in the summer of 2006. If awarded, you will receive a stipend of $2,400 and be exposed to a range of professional activities within the institution hosting you. To apply, you must be a woman undergraduate, recent graduate, or graduate student who is seeking a career opportunity in arts administration. You must demonstrate an ethnic, racial, cultural or financial background that is underrepresented in the field. You must also be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status.

Emma L. Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media
- The Emma L. Bowen Foundation was created in 1989 to prepare minority youth for careers in the media industry. The Foundation’s program is unlike traditional intern programs in that students work for partner companies during summers and school breaks from the summer following their junior year in high school until they graduate from college. Students earn an hourly salary and matching funds for college expenses. Academic excellence is also a key component of the program—students are required to maintain a 3.0 grade point average to remain in good standing.

- The Guggenheim Museum offers a range of internship opportunities for college students with an interest in the arts.
HarperCollins Publishers
- This summer internship is a "whirlwind tour of book publishing for college Juniors and Seniors." If you're a passionate reader, an excellent writer, a confident speaker, an eager and consummate assistant, and if you're ready for a busy schedule, this internship is your chance to find out what a career in publishing is all about.
High 5's Teen Reviewers and Critics (TRaC) Program
- Interested in critical writing? Check out High 5's Teen Reviewers and Critics (TRaC) Program. TRaC gives selected junior and senior high school students the opportunity to attend and review free High 5 events and meet and learn from working artists and critics.

Institute for Humane Studies
- This program offers paid summer internships that involve working on a film at a production company or an investigative journalism television program. Among other opportunities, these internships will enhance your production skills and make valuable connections within the film and production industry.
Louis Carr Internship Foundation (LCIF)
- This program provides 20 paid internships in communications to undergraduate students of color during the summer immediately following their freshman, sophomore or junior year of college.
The LCIF internships are full-time and run from the first week of June to mid-August with starting and end dates depending on school closing dates. Interns are placed in prominent advertising, marketing, sales, public relations, media and other industry-related businesses. Interns receive
a summer internship stipend of $4,000.

Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) High School Summer Internship Program
- This program exposes high school students to museum work and imparts valuable and practical job skills. In addition to their work in a Museum department, interns participate in an educational program consisting of lectures by Museum staff and visits to other arts organizations. This six-week paid internship is open to students in New York City public high schools who have recently graduated or will be entering Eleventh or Twelfth Grade in Fall 2006.
National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ)

The New York Times
- The New York Times offers a range of 10-week summer internships to college students who have decided on careers in journalism. Separate internships are offered in the areas of reporting, graphics design, photography, and editing. Some internships include paid stipends, and all are outstanding opportunities to learn about careers in journalism with this prestigious newspaper.

Princeton Summer Journalism Program
- A free, 11-day program held in August at Princeton University. Students will take classes taught by writers from national publications, tour the New York Times and ABC News, meet with editors and producers, and report, write, edit, design, and produce a 12-page edition of the Daily Princetonian. To apply for the program, students must be an entering junior or senior in high school Fall 2006, have at least 80 average, have an interest in journalism, and have a household income that does not exceed $45,000.

Random House Summer Internship
- This summer internship program is geared to students between their junior and senior years in college who have a serious interest in the business of book publishing. This ten-week session, which runs from mid-June to mid-August, has been called "a first rate publishing internship" by The Princeton Review.

Vibe Magazine
- VIBE offers internships in various career fields throughout the year. Internships typically last two to three months and coincide with the academic calendar (i.e., spring, summer, and fall). Candidates must be enrolled in either a two- or four-year college program and may receive college credit. All internships are on a part-time basis and are unpaid.

DreamWorks SKG
- This internship program is designed to encourage and nurture the interests of students who want to pursue a career in entertainment, while developing an overall knowledge of the industry and a network for future career opportunities. The program offers both academic (unpaid) and paid summer internships.
EntertainmentCareers
- This website offers listings of current internship opportunities across the entertainment industry.
NBC
- This internship program places college students in television broadcast/production areas, business operations, and NBC interactive positions related to their major and career goals. Students may work during the Fall, Spring, or Summer college semesters full-time or part-time (minimum 3 days per week) based on student availability and department/show needs.
Sony Music Entertainment
- Sony offers a variety of internships in New York City each semester. Internships are available in many areas including: Accounting, MIS, Marketing, A&R, Promotions, Sales, Publicity, Business Affairs, Publishing and Sony Studios. These internships are for credit only (no pay) and accepted candidates must be enrolled at an accredited college or university and registered to receive course credit for this internship.
The Summer Play Festival's High School Intern Program
- The High School Intern Program at the Summer Play Festival is designed to give younger students who are interested in pursuing further theatre-related studies or careers, practical, hands-on experience in both the administrative and production roles in a four week theatre festival.

- INROADS seeks high performing African American, Hispanic, and Native American Indian college students for internship opportunities with some of the nation's largest companies.
Kodak Cooperative Internship
- This program seeks applicants who want to contribute ideas and develop knowledge, leadership, and communications abilities, while interacting and collaborating with top professionals in the photography field. To apply, you must be enrolled full-time in a bachelor's, master's, or PhD Program, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, and be able to work a minimum 10-week work block during the year.
The Walt Disney Company
- This well known company offers a wide range of internship opportunities for college students in all areas of their business, including:

Internships in Non-Profit Organizations
Bank of America's Student Leaders Internship Program
- As a Bank of America Student Leader, you will (1) participate in a paid 8-week summer internship with a nonprofit organization that addresses issues of key concern in your community, (2) gain hands-on learning and valuable insights into how community organizations work, (3) discover firsthand how you can help shape your community now and in the future, and (4) engage in a series of leadership training and community service activities with local Bank of America executives.
Internships for College Graduates
NCAA Internship Program

The NCAA offers one-year internships at its national office in Indianapolis, Indiana, providing on-the-job learning experiences for college graduates who express an interest in pursuing a career in the administration of intercollegiate athletics. These are paid, 12-month positions.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Garden Apprentice Program (GAP)
- The Garden Apprentice Program at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden provides students in grades 8-12 with opportunities for personal growth and career development. The four-tier program includes training and volunteer placements with increasing levels of responsibility focused on gardening, environmental issues, science, leadership, and career skills. Apprentices become a dynamic, energetic part of the Garden's Education Department. A recommendation from your science teacher is required as part of the application process. The Fresh Air Fund
- The Fresh Air Fund is seeking public relations interns to assist with their Public Relations Campaign. Interns should be prepared to commit 10 to 15 hours or more per week from mid-January through May with the possibility of continuing full-time through The Fund’s 2006 summer season. Intern candidates should possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Undergraduates in communications and humanities degree programs are encouraged to apply.
The White House Internship Program
- The White House Internship Program provides a unique opportunity for students currently enrolled in college to learn more about the daily operations of the White House. In addition to normal office duties, interns attend weekly lectures, volunteer at special events, participate in tours, and contribute to a community service project in the Washington, D.C. area. Approximately 100 interns are chosen each spring, summer, and fall to participate in this highly competitive program.
