What makes Katherine our mentor of the month? Katherine is RESOURCEFUL

Katherine has taken full ownership of her role as a mentor to Aissatou. Not only does she email and attend events consistently (She has met with Aissatou 7 times so far this year!), but she is constantly trying to come up with new ways to better support her mentee. Katherine uses her own experience and expertise to provide guidance to Aissatou but also reaches out to the iMentor staff when she needs help in finding resources for her mentee. Aissatou has dreamed of attending Columbia University for years, and Katherine has been able to find admissions information and provide advice on how to get started with the application process. Thanks to Katherine, Aissatou now has a much more informed view of what it takes to apply to college and how she can best prepare herself for next year.

Aissatou says...

“Since I was a little girl I always wanted to be a architecture because I was really good at drawing. But as I grow up I begen to change my mind. Now I am thinking about doing many careers which includes Architecture, Doctor, Artist, and writter. I am not very sure about which is the best for me when i am going to work in a career.”

“I agree staying focused on your studies the way you have been will give you an advantage throughout your life.   It's important to remember education comes in more forms than a classroom though.”
