What makes Jason our mentor of the month? Jason is  A GREAT LISTENER

Jason has been an active participant in every discussion he’s had with Jesus from the very beginning of their match in October. While he does a great job of sharing and explaining his own opinions, he is always willing to listen and empathize with a differing perspective. Jason consistently sends great e-mails which encourage Jesus to respond openly and honestly to the prompts. He has also been very responsive to Jesus’ description of the kind of college experience he’s looking for, and therefore an instrumental resource for his mentee when it comes to researching specific schools.

Jesus says...

“Curfews are a good and bad idea at the same time in my eyes, even if there a completely bad thing in the eyes of other teenagers. Teenagers are in a time where any restrictions you give them feel like you’re violating their freedom.”

Jason says...

“I think it’s important for our society to recognize teenagers and realize that they play an important role in our society. It’s important to stand up for what you believe in. Oftentimes people are convinced to sacrifice their beliefs and ideals for some other reason. While it’s important to get along with people and be respectful, it’s also important to be yourself and be heard.”
