About the Member

Co-founded by NBA world champion (Celtics 2008), Leon Powe, Fresh Start is a place where foster youths become independent, contributing members of their community through mentorships and independent living skills services. Fresh Start provides mentoring and independent living skills to young people 14-21 years old who are in or transitioning out of the foster care system.

About the Partnership

Fresh Start has joined with iMentor to leverage the power of the iMentor Interactive (iMi) platform for use with its existing mentoring program.

Fresh Start will begin its use of iMi by customizing the look and feel of the site to match its branding. It will then match its mentors and mentees through iMi’s built-in matching algorithm, taking into account the preferences and interests of each potential pair. Once matched, the pairs will communicate using iMi’s email system, guided initially by 250 writing prompts that iMentor has already developed. And mentors and mentees will also be encouraged to meet in-person, taking advantage of iMi’s shared calendaring/event management feature.
