About the Member

ExcelAcademy Charter School is a tuition-free, charter middle school serving 200 students from the urban communities of Chelsea and East Boston. Excel prepares middle school students to succeed in high school and college, apply their learning to solve relevant problems, and engage productively in their communities.

About the Partnership

Excel and iMentor Interactive have come together to help launch the school’s alumni e-mentoring program. When Excel students graduate from the middle school, they often find themselves transitioning to an elite public high school or private boarding school. To assist with this transition, Excel will match their new alumni with mentors from the surrounding community. Together, they’ll work through the challenges of entering a new environment via monthly e-mail communication and in-person meetings. And ultimately, Excel staff will be able to measure the success of this transition using the survey and reporting tools provided by iMi.
