About the Member

Communities In Schools (CIS) in the nation's leading community based organization helping kids succeed in school and prepare for life. From humble beginnings serving kids in storefront academies in Harlem over four decades ago, CIS has grown into a nationwide network providing services to more than two million young people and their families each year through state and local programs in over 3,000 schools.

About the Partnership

The Communities In Schools of NJ (CISNJ) Mentoring Success Center is an exciting partnership between Communities In School of New Jersey and the Nicholson Foundation to provide coordination, training and support for mentoring programs in the Newark/Essex County area. The participating programs include Street Warriors, Newark Public Schools, the Port Authority of NY & NJ, and Protestant Community Centers.

Using iMentor Interactive, all of the Mentoring Success Center’s partners will have instant access to mentor/mentee email communication, complete with writing prompts to structure their conversations. In addition, each partner will be able to track their participants’ usage and CISNJ will be able to evaluate outcomes across the network, using this data to push for increased mentoring opportunities throughout Newark.
