About the Member
Row New York was founded in 2002 on the belief that a sport that teaches the invaluable lessons of teamwork, tenacity, and commitment to self and to others should be available to the young people of our city. In our five-year history, Row New York has grown from a small program serving 15 girls to a thriving organization serving over 300 girls a year. We have discovered along the way that the uniqueness of rowing as a sport for NYC public school children gives the Row New York team a sense of pride and motivation that is all too often lacking in young people today. In their talented group of young women, this pride and motivation consistently produces amazing results: in their six-year history, all of the graduates have gone on to college, many on scholarship, and the Row New York team consistently competes well against rowing teams from elite private schools in regattas across the northeast.
Row New York strives to empower girls and young women from New York City’s under resourced communities to pursue excellence in all facets of their lives through a highly structured program of competitive rowing and comprehensive academic support. All Row New York’s programs are provided free-of-charge to 7th through 12th grade girls. |
About the Partnership
IMentor Interactive will assist Row New York’s Core Program in reaching their organizational goal to ensure that all their participants graduate from high school and go on to college. Row New York will use iMentor Interactive in their academic program as well as streamline their system of communicating with participants, conducting participant intake, maintaining case management files, and tracking program data. In the fall of 2009 Row New York will focus on matching rising seniors with mentors who will assist them with conducting college research, writing their college essays, selecting and applying to colleges, and completing the financial aid application process. |
