About the Member

Plumas Crisis Intervention & Resource Center (PCIRC) was incorporated in 1983, beginning as a grassroots organization to provide a crisis line for Plumas County, and is a private, non-profit organization. PCIRC currently provides direct service programs to vulnerable populations such as the Plumas-Sierra Crisis Line and Emergency Services; Mac Homeless & Transitional Housing Services Program; Plumas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Program; Independent Living Skills Program & Mentors Bridging Access (for Foster Youth); SAFE: Sexual Assault-Freedom & Education Program; Emergency Utility Program; Children’s Advocacy Program; and a Community Access Technology Center. In addition, PCIRC serves as the fiscal agent to the local Food Banks, Community Suppers, Birth Partners (doula services) and Quincy History Club, a youth mentoring program. Access to all health-related core program services are provided through three community Family Resource Center sites located respectively in Quincy, Greenville and Portola, each reflecting and responding to the individual identified needs of their communities. PCIRC also supports an office in Sierra County which provides Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence services. The mission of PCIRC is to function as a safety net provider of countywide services that offer individuals and families the opportunity to live to their own potential and be treated with dignity and respect. PCIRC recently celebrated 25 years of service to Plumas County residents and is the only agency offering access to emergency and transitional housing.

About the Partnership

Rural counties in Northern California are mostly separated by long distances between communities that require travel on two-lane roads. Winter weather conditions and lack of public transportation services often serve as barriers in the delivery of supportive services to youth. Plumas Crisis Intervention & Resource Center and iMentor Interactive will expand and secure those connections with youth so mentors can maintain regular and consistent contact, regardless of outside influences. While mentors working with foster youth maintain regularly scheduled times to meet and engage in social activities with their mentees, iMentor Interactive will allow mentors to expand their relationship with youth and will create a dialogue to build stronger relationships with their youth.
