The American Bar Association is the largest voluntary professional association in the world. With more than 400,000 members, the ABA provides law school accreditation, continuing legal education, information about the law, programs to assist lawyers and judges in their work, and initiatives to improve the legal system for the public. The ABA’s mission is to serve equally their members, their profession and the public by defending liberty and delivering justice as the national representative of the legal profession.

The ABA is sponsoring a year-long law program, Championing Our Students (COS), in Chicago, New Orleans, the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Providence, RI, and Washington, D.C. The COS program will provide teens with the tools to ensure personal, academic, and career success and increase their exposure to career choices within law-related professions. The program seeks to foster a better understanding and appreciation of the role of law in our society.

The COS program will be run using iMentor Interactive, allowing the program’s administrators in Chicago to oversee mentoring activities across the country. Mentors and mentees will be matched based on shared interests, using iMi’s compatibility matching algorithm. They will communicate online once a week and meet in-person once a month, using iMi’s email and calendar tools, respectively.
