iMi & Your organization
No. Each organization is responsible for recruiting, screening, and training their volunteers. iMentor assists organizations by sharing advice, case studies and best practices to help ensure the success of your mentor recruitment.
No. However, iMentor has established a partnership with Backgrounds Online, providing partner organizations with significant discounts on both volunteer and employment screening. Backgrounds Online will provide your organization with customized screening services, including criminal history searches, national wants and warrants, employment verification, reference checks, and much more. Once your organization becomes a iMentor partner, you may register with Backgrounds Online and take advantage of the iMentor partnership benefits. iMentor recruits mentors willing to make an initial 3-4 year commitment to a single student. After this initial commitment, all pairs have the option to extend their relationship through college completion. To date the majority of iMentor’s mentors get involved through corporate partnerships, though we see significant promise in the involvement of other groups such as AmeriCorps alums. iMentor provides significant resources for mentor pipeline recruitment and has built a model that mentors – and their employers - find satisfying and feasible. Our mentors report increases in civic engagement and interest in education issues and mentor attrition within a given year averages ≤10%.
Our partnerships are renewable. Partners are encouraged to continue to partner with iMentor to manage and grow their programs and are given continued access to iMentor’s platform, Learning Center, training and evaluation resources for a reduced $35,000 annual fee.
iMi Technical Requirements
No. iMentor's platform is designed to be a completely user-friendly, easily utilized by both students and nonprofit staff. Most technical problems encountered can either by resolved by the iMentor's Platform Helpdesk.
Our platform can be accessed from both Macs and PCs and all major browsers. For the best user experience, we recommend using Windows XP or higher or Mac OS X or higher. For quality purposes, Mozilla Firefox 3.5 and Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher are our recommended browsers
No. iMentor's web-based platform can be accessed from any Internet-connected computer. This includes the front-end features (what your mentors and mentees use to build their relationship) and your back-end features (what your staff uses to manage the program).
