Dear Family, Friends, and Colleagues:
As of now, most of you know that I have been involved in the iMentor program for the past year. It has made a tremendous difference in my life and hopefully I made a big difference in my mentee's life.
I have taken on the mentor role last fall when I found out about this program. I went through the proper training with my class, and had been placed with a mentee that matched my profile. My mentee's name is Kristal Brantley and she is a sophomore at Westinghouse High School in Brooklyn, New York. Even though we come from completely different backgrounds, we have a lot in common. The iMentor program did an outstanding job setting us up as mentor/mentee, and I hope I make a difference in her life, especially at a crucial time where she is approaching the SAT's, college applications, and peer pressure in school. These are just some of the topics that we discuss each Friday when Kristal logs in to email me. As a mentor, I give her advice on the situation and will discuss her opinion on the topic as well as mine. We have grown very close this past year and we have lots of actives planned this spring, including a Mets game!!
It is very important that everyone, young or old, to have some type of mentor through out life and unfortunately some High School students (at this crucial period of their lives) do not get this opportunity. My primary goal for this year is to change the life of at least one person, and that is why I am so dedicated to this program and truly honored to be a part of it. With that being said, this is my opportunity, on behalf of iMentor, to send out a donation page to all who know me personally and want to contribute to this great organization. My current goal for 2008 is $1000. If you would like to make a donation please do so. Thanks so much!
Very truly yours,
Tara E. Nugent
