Since 2001, I have volunteered with iMentor to mentor seven high-school students in Queens and Brooklyn. This entails passing along essential tools to students for them to succeed in school, prepare for SATs, complete college essays, apply for internships, or solve 'life problems'- all with a focus on leveraging the resources of the Web.
My mentee this year is Franklin Hayes, who is 15 and lives in Bayside. Franklin is enrolled in iMentor through East West School of International Studies, and his career goal is to design cars.
Franklin and I wish to raise $2,000 to finance 2 mentor-mentee pairs for an entire school year. iMentor's impact on local youth is enabled by its exceptional leadership- aiming for excellence in hiring talented staff, recruiting the best mentors, thoughtfully creating a meaningful and fun experience for mentors and mentees, carefully deploying funds, and setting big goals for the organization year after year. Your donation/investment will be in the best hands.

iMentor's mission is to improve the lives of young people from underserved communities in New York City through innovative, technology-based approaches to youth mentoring and education. iMentor creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships between high school-aged youth (mentees) and caring adult mentors. Every mentor-mentee pair cultivates their relationship using iMentor's pioneering combination of weekly email correspondence and regular in person meetings. Capitalizing on email and emerging technologies, iMentor adds structure and flexibility to its mentoring relationships. iMentor's mentoring model proves that:
