The 2007 Urban Hero Awards

iMentor's Annual Fundraiser

In 2005, iMentor was selected to become a member of The Catalog for Giving. Last year, thanks to iMentor's corporate sponsors and The Catalog for Giving, this event raised over $60,000 and served as a fantastic spotlight for the iMentor program and its recent accomplishments.

About The Event

For twelve years, The Catalog has highlighted the impact of its member agencies by hosting an annual event to honor the young people that they serve. The Catalog's Urban Heroes Awards Benefit recognizes youth who best exemplify the work of these ten organizations. The Catalog takes great care in screening and selecting its member groups to ensure that its donors are supporting the very best non-profit youth development programs in New York City. From mentoring programs in the arts for homeless children, academic help for low-income students, to technology classes and self-advocacy training for foster care youth, The Catalog's member organizations provide the positive structure to change a young life forever.

Please join iMentor to celebrate Keshia Biyoghe (a former mentee) and 9 other extraordinary young people who, through tenacity, hard work, and courage, have overcome difficult life challenges to become role models for others in their communities. Keshia will share her moving story, speak about the impact of iMentor on her future academic and career goals, and accept a 2007 Urban Hero Award.

Want to support iMentor through the Urban Heroes Award Benefit? You can:

Keshia B.

iMentor's 2007 Urban Hero Award Recipient

Mentee Keshia B. has earned iMentor's 2007 Urban Hero Award. A highlight of the evening, Keshia will give a speech about her relationship with her mentor (Deborah) and her experience as an iMentor mentee.

Keshia came to the United States to pursue her American dream in November 2004, when she was 16 years old, and she is originally from Gabon a small French speaking tropical country in Central West Africa. She now lives here in Crown Heights with her mother, step-dad, step-sister and aunt.

Table Sponsorship

100% of the proceeds from the tables purchased in iMentor's name go toward supporting mentor-mentee pairs enrolled in the iMentor program during the 2007-2008 program year. By sponsoring a $10,000 table will allow iMentor to connect 10 new mentor-mentee pairs and support their participation in the program for 1 year.
