Mentor of the Month: February 2010

What makes Jodi our mentor of the month? Jodi is PROACTIVE

Jodi has been incredibly consistent and proactive throughout her match with Mandognin. They were matched late in the first year, but Jodi immediately became a positive and supportive force in Mandognin’s life. Jodi continues to write thoughtful and thought-provoking weekly emails and meets up with Mandognin on a regular basis, This year, Jodi has been unable to make it to any of the scheduled events. However, she has rescheduled each meeting with Mandognin, using the calendar on iMi to create special events for the two of them. They have already met six times since October, and Jodi has been helping Mandognin work through the college application process. Additionally, they have spent hours at the office working on Mandognin’s college essays. The two enjoy a strong bond largely because Jodi has taken a proactive approach to her match, and Mandognin knows she can rely on her.

Mandognin says...

"Thank you again for helping me to edit my college essay. I try to type it at school but I got less time to finish everything time. I got your homework that I have to do. I will try my best to find much information as I could before Saturday night. As I said to my last email, I want to apply to Binghamton University because it give lot of choice to student to chose."

Jodi says...

"Your essay is wonderful! You did such a great job incorporating what we talked about and then adding some great things that we hadn't. And the final paragraph is great! There are a few things that we can talk about when we meet, but it will be easier to go over in person.  I'm looking forward to seeing you today!"
