iMentor Named a Finalist for the 2010 Barclays Chairman's Award

July 26, 2010 - 2:40pm

Each year, Barclays Capital presents the Chairman’s Award to recognize and celebrate the volunteer efforts of its employees in their local communities. Out of 376 nominations from 27 countries, iMentor was named a finalist for the Team Achievement Award of the Year - The Americas, thanks to the dedication and commitment of 64 Barclays volunteers. Barclays Capital represents the largest group of volunteers from any of iMentor’s corporate partners

Kel Huang, a Barclays Capital employee and mentor with iMentor, attended the awards ceremony in Madrid. He had an opportunity to meet Barclays Chairman, Marcus Agius, and speak with people from around the world about iMentor’s innovative program.

"Everyone was impressed by iMentor's unique model and the way in which it has embraced technology to build high-impact mentoring relationships", said Kel. "Because iMentor’s matches are long matches, as a mentor, you really see the student grow up in all facets of their life. I think that really resonated with people and that it really sets iMentor’s program apart."

Barclays Capital has partnered with iMentor since 2009. During the 2009 – 2010 program year, the Barclays Capital team volunteered over 2,000 hours with iMentor. This year, Barclays seeks to increase the number of employees involved.
