100 Mentor Pledge
iMentor launched the 100 Mentor Pledge in January 2012 in partnership with 10 leading companies that are committed to serving New York City’s youth: Accenture, Barclays Capital, Bloomberg LP, Citi, Deutsche Bank, Ernst & Young LLP, Goldman Sachs, Marsh & McLennan Companies, Morgan Stanley, and UBS. New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced the pledge in his 2012 State of the City address.
iMentor will match employees from these companies with students from its partner schools in one-on-one mentoring relationships that last up to four years. Mentors will help students build key competencies linked to college success and navigate the college application and financial aid processes. Companies are also financially supporting iMentor through the pledge.
The 100 Mentor Pledge is part of iMentor’s whole-community approach to mentoring that strives to meet the needs of youth in low-income communities. iMentor’s CEO Mike O’Brien says, “Government, businesses, nonprofits, and citizens need to work together to prepare the next generation of college students for success. iMentor’s 100 Mentor Pledge brings these sectors together, enabling companies and their employees to provide vital support to our schools and students.”
The visionary leadership of the companies in the 100 Mentor Pledge is vital to iMentor’s work. iMentor is currently recruiting organizations to sign on to the pledge and ensure more young people have the support they need to succeed in college.
